The need for protection of vehicle owners’ rights to decide where and how to get there vehicles serviced and maintained is a huge issue in MA right now.

 

We need this legislation because current technology is being used to “lock-out” vehicle owners and independent repair shops from communicating with a vehicle’s computer which causes a problem when we try to diagnose mechanical problems or install safe & reliable replacement parts that are compatible with vehicle’s computers. When forced to return to dealership, vehicle owners are denied competitive prices and convenient locations. This legislation will allow vehicle owners the right to have repairs performed in a timely manner and they are able to choose replacement parts for their vehicle. Consumers have a choice!
